Some Acne facts

Some Acne factsAcne facts
Acne afflicts mostly the younger lot between the ages of 12 and 24. However, people in forties and fifties too may continue to have this problem. Women tend to suffer from adult acne more than men because of the increasing hormone levels

Androgens (male sex hormones) increase in both boys and girls during puberty causing the sebaceous glands in the skin to enlarge and make more sebum resulting in pimples or acne.

Acne can be hereditary. Hormonal changes during pregnancy, starting or stopping birth control pills, certain drugs, all can cause acne. Greasy cosmetics too can be the culprits at times. Hard scrubbing of the skin, squeezing or picking blemishes can flare up the acne.

Tips to help you lower your stress levels

Tips to help you lower your stress levelsFILTERING: You had a great day at work and have completed your tasks ahead of the deadline, but you made a minor mistake at some point during the day. That evening, you focus will be only your mistakes. Avoid doing this.

PERSONALISING: When something bad happens, you automatically blame yourself. For example, you hear that an evening out with friends is cancelled and you assume that the change in plans is because no one wanted to be around you.

CATASTROPHISING: This happens when you always anticipate the worst. You refuse to go out with people for fear that you’ll make a fool of yourself. Or one change in your daily routine leads you to think the day will be a disaster. This can be very stressful.

POLARISING: You see things only as either good or bad, or black and white. You feel that you have to be perfect or you’re a total failure. This attitude impedes your adjustment levels and so, only increases stress levels.

Tips to get a Good Sleep for Your Kid

Tips to get a Good Sleep for Your KidNix kid caffeine You wouldn’t give your child coffee before bed, but java's not the only source of stay-awake jitters. Chocolate, bottled iced teas, energy drinks, even some fruit sodas are caffeinated. One caffeinated soda will rev up a 40-pound kid as much as two cups of coffee would an adult. Offer milk or water instead so that the health doesn’t suffer and the desired level of protein keeps your children going.

Create a noelectronics zone Keep TV sets out of kids’ bedrooms; shut down or collect computers, cell phones, MP3 players, and video games a full hour before lights out in order to signal the brain that nighttime is starting and it’s time to sleep. “Every single study has shown that TV viewing, especially in a child’s own room, causes sleep problems.

Set a good example Kids see their parents burning the candle at both ends, then drinking coffee, caffeinated sodas, and energy drinks to stay alert. If you value sleep, your kids will too. You just have to be extra careful about their daily activities.
