BE COMFORTABLE
Have a soft bedding. Use an especially fluffy pillow for a cushy comforter as this can go a long way towards helping you sleep soundly. If you don't use a pillow make sure you use a comfortable quilt and also a tidy bed cover.
DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT
Try sleeping in your room for about 20 minutes, if you aren't falling asleep then go into another room. If you are still tossing and turning after 20 minutes, get up and go into another room and do something quiet and boring such as reading a bad book or an instruction manual.

AVOID SIESTAS AND NAPS
Sleeping during the day can rob you of sleep at night. Make it a point to be wide awake during the day, because insomniacs do have a problem of sleeping during the day time. Instead do some fun activities or indulge in your favourite hobby.
STICK TO A SCHEDULE
Sleep to a schedule. You should sleep and rise at the same time every day, even on weekends. It doesn't matter whether you're an early bird or a night owl. Just make a schedule and keep to it.
