How To Get Rid Of Acne

In order to get rid of acne, you have to get to the root of the problem. Clogged pores and bacteria. In some cases, hormones could play a part.

Most acne treatments home in on the bacteria. Go to a doctor with your acne problem and if it is acne vulgaris, you're likely to be given a course of antibiotics. It could be an oral course of erythromycin, tetracycline, or doxycycline or other a topical antibiotic which you apply daily. The idea here is to kill off the bacteria.

Likewise, many of the drugstore acne treatments you might get probably contain benzoyl peroxide. It doesn't kill bacteria outright. Instead, in forces oxygen into the pores. Acne bacteria cannot live in the presence of oxygen, so by surrounding the bacteria with oxygen, benzoyl peroxide kills it off.

Besides killing off the bacteria, you'd want to unclog the pores. Do this by sloughing off dead skin cells that stick on longer than they should. Salicylic acid helps. As do masks. A deep cleansing mask and scrub used twice or thrice weekly should help you manage your acne. On a personal note, I found clinique clarifying lotion 2 an excellent exfoliator.
