How to Get rid of acne?
Acne is not life threatening but it can leave behind not only skin scars but also emotional scars. Up till now, the general consensus was leaving acne alone. “However,” says Dr Madnani, “Acne should be treated because treatment can cause a phenomenal change in one’s personality — a self conscious individual can turn into an extrovert. Also, individuals with mild acne can get psychologically affected; doctors trivialise the problem whilst patients exaggerate or underplay depending upon the psychological impact.”
Each person requires his own assessment and treatment program. Doctors usually recommend an over the counter (OTC) or prescription topical medication to be directly applied on the pimple or on the entire area of affected skin.
A common ingredient in many of these acnecontrolling skin care treatments is salicylic acid, which helps to remove dead skin cells, encourages peeling of the top layer of skin and the opening of plugged follicles. Using only one ingredient will help but many people may need something more specific. Oral medications (antibiotics) too may be advised in case of severe acne.
Don’t worry, even Hollywood stars like Keira Knightley admit to having acne days!
